Environmental Care

A typical feather weighs 0.5g and yet has the strength to sustain the flight of a falcon at 140mph. It can hold an albatross soaring in the air on heat currents for weeks but can also carry an owl absolutely silently during the still night as it hunts for its prey. Feathers also display the beauty of the parrot illustrated. We must protect their beauty.

We offer paper chosen from sustainable forestry, or recycled consumer waste so that we can fulfil our environmental responsibilities. Inks are vegetable based, plate production is chemical-free, and paper off-cuts are thoughtfully recycled to ensure minimum damage to the environment.

Ink to Paper

The squid is a most unusual creature that uses ink to escape from its enemies. It holds an “ink sac” that enables it to create an underwater "smoke screen". With its enemy encompassed in the dark, the squid can make its getaway. Squid ink has been used by the Chinese for centuries.

Action Press uses ink from the full range to display and to create maximum effect. Inks are available from fluorescent to metallic, black to yellow, bright to dark. Beautiful technicolor spectrums are available for you to choose from or use to project your message.

Importance of Colour

The chameleon is an amazing animal with unrelated orbiting eyes that respond independently. They can rotate and focus separately to observe two different objects simultaneously. The chameleon uses colour, not for reasons of camouflage as traditionally thought, but instead as a method of communication, including making itself more attractive to a potential mate! Its skin has cells that can rapidly relocate their pigments, thereby causing the impressive colour change. It also has a tongue like a frog that captures the prey in 30 thousandths of a second.
